Meet the Conductors
Theresa Witmer

Conducting: Fall River Overture; Where the Waters Meet; Foaming Sea; Late in the Evening; Les Misérables
Theresa Witmer is the music director of PCB and is sharing the podium this season with four PCB musicians.
Read Full Biography
I’m the music director of PCB, and I’m so happy to be sharing the conducting duties this season with the four wonderful musicians, all members of PCB this season.
Before PCB, which is in its 17th year, I taught High School Band for 32 years in three different New York State public schools; the last 26 years were at Potsdam High School. I’ve had quite a few other “retirement” musical and music teaching activities, all of which I have enjoyed very much, and I’m still loving working with other musicians and playing all kinds of music on my saxophones.
I love being outside, gardening, walking, and exploring in all seasons. My family is pretty spread out and I enjoy traveling to spend time with all of them.
Andrew Crecco

Conducting: On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss

Read Full Biography
My name is Andrew Crecco. I am currently the 4th–6th Grade Band Director for the Potsdam Central School District. This is my 3rd year teaching for this district. Originally from North Tonawanda, located in Western New York, I graduated from the Crane School of Music in 2012. During my five years as a Crane student, I majored in both Music Education and Performance, received a minor in Jazz Studies, and a concentration in Music in Education.
Once I returned home, I worked in group homes providing services to adults with disabilities from 2013–2022, completed a master’s degree in Special Education in 2018, and eventually found my way back into the music room after a hiatus teaching Elementary General Music from 2019–2022.
I initially returned to the North Country to teach K–12 Band for Edward-Knox Central School District in 2022 before my time in Potsdam. As a trombonist, I have played in various groups including PCB, NSW, SLU’s orchestra/wind ensemble, and multiple musical pits.
I am honored and excited to conduct during this concert season. While most of my free time also involves music in some capacity, I also enjoy playing video games and spending time with my three children.

I am originally from Herkimer, New York and am currently in my 8th year as band director for Hermon-DeKalb Central School in St. Lawrence County. I previously taught band and general music for several years in Charlotte, North Carolina, in addition to maintaining a private brass studio.
I received my bachelor’s in music education with a concentration in special music education and a performance certificate from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where I studied tuba under Dr. Charles Guy. From there I accepted a band assistantship at The University of Akron, where I worked with a variety of ensembles including the “Ohio’s Pride” marching band, basketball brass band, and The University Concert Band. There I received a Master of Music Performance on tuba, where I studied under Professor Tucker Jolly.
In addition to being an active educator, I have performed with the Carolina Wind Orchestra, Charlotte Concert Band, Potsdam Community Band, Northern Symphonic Winds, and The Orchestra of Northern New York. In my spare time I love cooking, gardening, and spending time with my dog and two cats.
